Craig Stobo
Craig Stobo was educated at Waitaki Boys High School Otago University where he graduated with BA (Hons) First Class in Economics; and the Wharton Business School at the University of Pennsylvania (Advanced Management Programme).
He has worked as a diplomat for the NZ and Australian Foreign Services as an economist, as an investment banker and as the Chief Investment Officer and CEO of BT Funds Management NZ Ltd. While in that latter capacity he was a member of the Westpac NZ senior management team, and won awards for Fund Manager of the Year and Best Place to Work in NZ.
He has authored reports for the NZ Government on "The Taxation of Investment Income" in 2004 which lead to the PIE taxation regime in 2007; and "Exporting Financial Services" in 2010 which advocated NZ as a funds domicile and resulted in the Foreign Investor PIE regime in 2011.
He also reported to the Taupo Group in 2008 on "Creating Wealth for New Zealanders".
Currently Craig is an independent director of the listed company Precinct Properties Ltd, the newly established Local Government Funding Agency Ltd, and OCG Consulting Ltd an executive recruitment company.
He also has consulting assignments and has interests in and is a director of private companies including financial services firms Appello Services Ltd, Saturn Portfolio Management Ltd, Elevation Capital Management Ltd and SouthWest Trustees Ltd.
Jason McCracken
Jason has 20 years experience in the General Insurance industry in Australisia. Jason has worked in Executive roles for both Suncorp and IAG which represent over 65% of the industry.
Until recently Jason was Suncorp Group’s Executive General Manager of claims, managing over $3b in claims and leading 2,700 staff. Prior to this role he was CEO of SuperPoints, a loyalty marketing company.
Jason was a member of the Executive Committee for IAG over a period of 10 years and held a variety of roles within the Group. His most recent role was the Head of Business Partners in New Zealand, responsible for the management of the $250m Corporate Business working with the leading banks in New Zealand.
Before joining IAG he was the CEO of the Insurance Institute of New Zealand.
Timothy Jones
Tim is the Chief Operating Officer of Chapman Tripp, New Zealand's pre-eminent law firm. Tim is a Chartered Accountant with 20 years experience in professional services firms.
In addition to Chairing the Appello Board Tim is responsible for all aspects of the finance, legal, risk management and information technology of Appello.
Prior to his role at Chapman Tripp he was Finance Director of the Practiv Group – a substantial technology company that provides its services to the UK financial services industry and the New Zealand telecommunications industry.
Tim previously practiced with KPMG where he was a Director in the Middle Market Advisory division.
Mike Maunsell
Mike is a qualified Pharmacist with 20 years project management experience in the health, financial services and telecommunications industries in NZ, Australia, UK and USA.
Mike Co-founded Appello in 2007.
He is currently Project Director at Downer responsible for delivery of the Government-backed Ultrafast Broadband and Rural Broadband Projects.
